Beginning Carting/Drafting Seminar

321 Oriana Road
Yorktown, VA  23693
Fall 2011 (Date TBD)
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Lunch and Snacks Provided
This seminar is for anyone with any breed of dog that is interested in
finding out more information about canine carting or drafting.  Think of
it as a "try it before you buy it" opportunity.

We will cover many areas of information about carting, including:
  • Why do we cart with our dogs?
  • What equipment is required?
  • What training is required?
  • What breeds of dogs can participate in carting?
  • Can I participate competitively in carting?
  • What practical and fun uses can be found for canine carting?

We will cover the training necessary to be able to start carting with
your dog safely.  We will also cover the different types of harnesses and
carts/wagons available.  You do not need to own any carting equipment
to attend the seminar.  We have multiple size harnesses that will fit
most dogs above 40 pounds.

The cost for the seminar is $50 for each team of handler and dog.  This
fee includes your lunch and snacks.  You will leave the seminar with
multiple handouts including sources for equipment and your own
"sacrificial tree" that you can use to get started.

The only previous training required for the canine participants is some
basic obedience.  This means that your dog can be around other dogs
safely and that you can walk him/her on a leash, under control.

Please contact us by phone, text or email with any questions.  There is
a limit of 12 working slots so register early!
