August 31 and September 2, 2009 - Xoie was bred to CH Von Engel's Devl'N Disguise, affectionately
known as
Mo.  He is a handsome "older man" (DOB:  April 7, 2002) and I am very pleased with this
breeding.  Both parents are over the age of five and neither has had any health problems to date!
October 7, 2009 - I took Xoie to Dr. Heather Price at Poquoson Veterinary Hospital for an ultrasound.  We
saw five babies in one screen shot and possibly two more on the other side.  Aunt Natalie came along and
took some pictures.  Here they
are!

Xoie at her puppy shower on
October 21.  Twelve days to
go!
October 21, 2009 - Aunt Natalie hosted a puppy shower for Xoie and invited lots of Xoie's friends.  We had
cake (and Xoie did, too)!  Here are some of the
pictures.  Twelve days to go!
November 1, 2009 - Babies are here!  The babies were born this morning by c-section.  Thank you, Dr.
Tim Stiff and staff for coming in on Sunday to take care of Xoie and her babies.  Three are three girls and
two boys.  Mom is doing well after her surgery which included a spay.  She is still groggy and slightly
cranky, but otherwise doing well.  The babies are doing well, too.  They started nursing at the hospital.
Fingers crossed for the first 24 - 36 hours.  Pictures are
here!
November 1, 2009 - I weighed the puppies this afternoon after we got home.  Galaxie (Purple) weighed 16
ounces; Shelby (Pink) weighed 10 ounces; Nova (Yellow) weighed 11 ounces; Judge (Blue) weighed 16
ounces; and Boss (Green) weighed 18 ounces.
November 1, 2009 - Sad news.  Nova (Yellow) died tonight.  She came out really having a hard time
breathing and her lungs were really wet, Dr. Stiff said.  She wouldn't nurse and I was having to syringe
feed her.  She got her dinner at about 8:00 tonight and when I checked on her about an hour later, she
had stopped breathing.  It's very sad but I have to believe that it is Mother Nature's way of telling me that
she is in a better place.  Lucky for her, Uncle Klarsson is waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.
November 3, 2009 - Galaxie is looking a little thin and she is dehydrated.  I took her to the vet this
evening and he gave her fluids.  He told me to take her home and bottle/syringe feed her every two hours
November 3.
November 4, 2009 - Galaxie isn't any better this morning.  I took her back to the vet for more fluids.  It
seems like she isn't able to keep any food down.  The vet instructed me to continue feeding her every two
hours and give fluids again tonight.  We'll keep our fingers crossed.  In the meantime, the other three
puppies are doing very well and gaining weight at what appears to be an alarming rate!!!  Updated
pictures of the babies are
here.
November 5, 2009 - After a valiant struggle, I took Galaxie to the emergency clinic to be euthanized last
night.  She wasn't keeping any of her formula down and it was bubbling back through her nose.  The vet
believes that she had either a stricture or a weak valve between her esophagus and stomach that didn't
close and allow the food to process through the rest of her digestive tract.  We will miss her here but now
regally from a distance.  The other three babies are fat and happy and had their dew claws removed today.
 Here are their
pictures.
November 6, 2009 - No news to report today (yeah!).  The Three Musketeers are doing well and are doing
and an even better jungle gym to climb.  They are all gaining weight, the boys are almost two pounds
each!!!  Shelby is trying hard to catch up in the weight department, she is almost 1.5 pounds now.  Here
are today's
pictures.
Boss was asleep in her lap...  The boys are spoiled already!  The other dogs are being very respectful of the
babies and Xoie is making sure that they know that they need to keep their distance.  When Xoie is
outside, Auntie Future goes into the box to check on the babies and make sure they don't need anything
while Mom is away.  Here are their first weekend
pictures.
November 8, 2009 - Happy One Week Birthday!  The babies are one week old today.  It has been a really
long week but well worth it.  The Three Musketeers are fat and happy and quite squirmy.  Shelby has a
serious attitude and doesn't take any stuff from her brothers, even though she is about half their size.
pounds 9 ounces) and the tater tot (Shelby, 1 pound 10 ounces) are all doing great! Here are their One
Week
pictures.
November 11, 2009 - Boss and Judge have started opening their eyes!  Boss is trying to walk but isn't
being too successful.  Right now, he takes one step and falls over.  Maybe by the weekend, he'll be a little
more coordinated!
November 13, 2009 - Shelby's eyes are now starting to open.  The boys have theirs all the way open now
and their ears are starting to open as well.  Boss is moving around some in response to us coming into
she is doing well.  She weighed in at her pre-pregnancy weight of 76 pounds!  She was very excited to get
out and we made a stop at Grandma's house on the way home where she got to run loose in her yard with
Mom's two dogs.  She also got to run through the standing water, left over from Hurricane Ida!
November 15, 2009 - Happy Two Week Birthday!  The babies are getting really big, bigger than either of
the other litters.  Less competition for food with only three at the milk bar!  The sweet potato (Boss, 4
pounds 6 ounces), the russet potato (Judge, 4 pounds 2 ounces) and Princess tater tot (Shelby, 2 pounds
8 ounces) are doing very well.  They continue to get stronger and all three are trying to walk.  They still
aren't too successful, falling over more often than moving forward.  Click

whelping box.  Once the puppies move to their x-pen, the camera will move, too.  Now, you can see live

are doing or to get lost in their total cuteness.
