Day 4 (February 19, 2007).  No pictures today.  Puppies are all doing well and gaining weight.  They
now weigh between 17 and 24 ounces.  Tomorrow is Dew Claw Removal Day.  Only one puppy has
double rear dew claws!
Day 5 (February 20, 2007).  The puppies' first trip to the outside world.  They went to see Dr. Heather
Price at Poquoson Veterinary Hospital.  She prounounced them all healthy with no cleft palates and no
umbilical hernias.  All dew claws were removed and the puppies came back home!  Several of the
puppies are starting to get black pigment on their noses.  It looks like their nose was stuck to a black
ink stamp pad, it is very faded, but really cute!!!
Day 15 (March 2, 2007).  Two weeks and one day.  The puppies have almost tripled in size!!!  The
smallest is weighing in at 2 pounds, 2 ounces and the largest is 3 pounds, 3 ounces.  All puppies are
doing great!  Their eyes are open and they are walking (wobbling) around on their own.  Xoie is being a
great Mom.  Future and Strider are helping out by checking on the puppies occasionally when Xoie is
resting.  To see updated pictures, click

Day 22 (March 9, 2007).  Three weeks and one day.  A majority of the puppies have tipped the scales at
over 4 pounds.  Several of them have gained more than one pound in the last week.  They are starting to
sit up and climb on the pig rails.  They are also starting to play with each other a little, emitting little
growls and sounds that could possibly be classified as puppy barks.  They are each getting their
individual snuggle and petting time and learning about TV.  They are getting their toenails cut weekly
and are being very good about it.  Xoie is still being a good Mom, however, the puppies are getting so big
that it is hard for all of them to nurse at once.  Xoie has also figured out that she can serve more
customers sitting up rather than laying on her side.  Many thanks to Katie and Holly Mitchell for
helping me get the puppies' three-week pictures.  Click

Day 26 (March 13, 2007).  I started the puppies on "solid" food today.  I am becoming an expert at
making Puppy Paste.  Puppy paste consists of baby rice cereal, evaporated milk and warm water.  I call
it Puppy Paste because that's exactly what it is like when it dries...sticky.  Xoie is still going in to lick
short period while she is standing up.  We'll be making Puppy Paste for about a week.
Day 28 (March 15, 2007).  Four weeks old today!!!  The puppies are learning very quickly that Puppy
Paste is good stuff.  All eight puppies are eating from the flying saucer bowl.  Some of them have
decided that bathing in it is fun or using it to make their feet whiter is a good plan.  I've given up on
trying to keep them clean.  Xoie is visiting them less and less and they are cleaning each other up now.
I will start adding in soaked puppy food to the Puppy Paste to make the gradual change-over to puppy
food.  Thanks again to Holly Mitchell for coming and helping me take the pictures.  She also held all
the puppies for their nail trim and sponge bathed them so they weren't quite as white and sticky for
their pictures.  For the four week pictures, click

No individual 5 week pictures.  I had to feed the puppies before I could get the individual pictures.
Now, after three meals, they are looking a little "ratty" again.  However, I will be posting some candid
shots from the last 10 days or so.  I'll be working on that tonight (Tuesday) after I get home from work.
March 29, 2007.  Six weeks old!!!  The puppies are getting more playful and really growing.  Squid has
gained almost 1.5 pounds in the last 2 days!!!  I have taken a lot of pictures and have gathered some of
them in a group of candid shots.  The puppies will get their 6-week worming tonight and will be getting
their first shots next Friday.  Click

us.  The puppies will be 14 weeks old on Thursday.  Squid is weighing in at 31.5 pounds and Angel is
since they were 8 weeks old and have no problem fending for themselves in the backyard and going up
and down the steps to the deck.  We are diligently working on potty training and have been sleeping
the last three nights in two separate crates as opposed to the x-pen.  I have been taking them to training
class and Danielle Barry and has been helping with their Puppy Pre-School training.  Look for updated
pictures soon!!!
